Mazda has gone from a resistible 323 2L to an irresistible, strong and sexy, with the second generation Mazda 3 performance series (MPS). The main focus with the MPS is high performance from the MZR 2.3L DISI Turbo four cylinder petrol engine that delivers a maximum output of 190kw at 5500revs per minute, and the direct fuel injection with a turbocharger allows the engine to achieve high performance.
The front of the new Mazda 3 has been adopted from the its sibling Mazda 6 and both the cars resemble a fish specially the Mazda 3’s front and grill. The aero dynamics from Mazda performance series helps reduce the fuel consumption of the car from 9.71/kmh to 9.2/kmh on the new MPS, another contribution to the PMS is the six speed manual transmission which makes it a quieter inside and improves the fuel economy when driving at high speeds. It features Mazda’s electro hydraulic power assisted steering which adjusts control in accordance with the vehicles speed and steering angle. ABS and electronic brake assist come standard with the MPS.
This is one item in the MPS you won’t find in as a standard in the GTi or Ford st, 225/40 18inch alloy wheels to compliment the great suspension and keep you on the road when driving at high speeds and it is said to be handling well. This is a bonus for anyone who loves travelling a satellite navigation system, a great car like this with more extras than a Foose design has, cruise control, semi bucket seats in red and black leather, dual climate control and a rear roof spoiler with these extras who wouldn’t want to buy the MPS instead of the GTI or Seat Leon. The best is yet to be named a BOSE sound system and a multifunction control steering with a top speed of 250/kmh in just 6.1 sec would make you feel free to be spending over R310000, considering the fact that it’s the fastest car in the its segment.
