GM's Beast of a Cruzer


Chevrolet has introduced the hatchback version of the very successful Cruze which has in some way or another has helped the GM company to where it belongs. Confirmation dates as to whether it will be coming to South Africa or not and at what price.

With the introduction of the new Cruze hatchback, motorist will have an alternative body-style to the normal sedan and Chevrolet has raised its bar with the vehicle that brings new levels of value against some of the more established competition.

According to vaalweekblad.com Wayne Brannon President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe told them that they are selling the Cruze in 70 countries around the world and it is GM’s top selling passenger car globally.

"Hatchbacks play a critical role in many markets. For instance, the total compact segment in Europe represents around 4.8 million units which is over a quarter of the total market, with hatchbacks representing around 65% of that volume. We therefore expect to see increased business in a number of regions.”



The new Chevrolet Cruze 5-door hatchback will go on sale across Europe mid 2011, followed by other global markets. It is said that GM South Africa is considering the possibility of bringing the stylish Cruze hatch into South Africa to complement the current range, but no final decision has yet been made.
